The Academy is thrilled to host a pre-party for the 2010 Noise Pop festival.  Noise Pop showcases the best local music alongside national and international indie-rock favorites.  The festival has grown into a widely respected brand, priding itself on bringing exposure to emerging artists, many of whom have gone on to widespread acclaim, including the White Stripes, Modest Mouse, The Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie, The Shins, Bright Eyes and many, many more. Noise Pop also includes the ever popular Noise Pop Film Festival, Pop 'N Shop, gallery art shows and much more.

Featured Music Performances:

An electro-set by the Frail at 8:15 pm — The Frail play sensual, vulnerable, and provocative electronic pop music, featuring sultry dance grooves and warm falsetto vocals from front-man Daniel Lannon.

A live performance by Brookhaven at 7:30 pm — Brookhaven perform a hybrid of electro-avant and drone-rock by way of bombinating electric guitars, warbling synths, incisive drumming and various programming, with a sharp ear for fusing their atypical arrangements with a rapturous melodic sensibility.

Featured DJs:

On the Mainfloor – Sleazemore returns to NightLife.  The force behind such San Francisco clubs as Lights Down Low and Ice Cream Social will keep you dancing all night to his custom blend of club mayhem.

In the Aquarium – Disco Shawn (Bersa Discos, Icee Hot, Popscene) will dive into his record collection to create a unique DJ set in the equally unique, picturesque setting of our Aquarium.

Science in Action will bring in cutting-edge interactive activities about the science of audio.  Details TBA.
