Creatures of the NightLife
The creatures come out at night as NightLife partners with the Bay Area Science Festival for an evening of spine-tingling delight on Halloween!
Discover the science and spectacle behind werewolves, vampires, zombies and other creatures that go bump in the night. Come in costume and catch a drag show and costume contest hosted by hostess of horror and local drag queen legend Peaches Christ. Face off with your inner monster with the help of manic makeup artists, and touch slimy specimens (including human brains!) in an Organ Lab. Learn about electrifying advances in bioengineering (what brought Frankenstein to life) from Daniel Cohen (UC Berkeley), get tips on how to survive a zombie attack from Joseph Chen (UCSF), hear from Kyle Kurpinski and Terry D. Johnson, authors of How to Defeat Your Own Clone: And Other Tips for Surviving the Biotech Revolution, and more with lightning talks. And heckle the bad science of Sharknado with acclaimed shark scientist David McGuire and comedians from the Dark Room.
