Drones and geospatial data in the aftermath of California wildfires
Drone technology has been increasingly used by public agencies for emergency and disaster response, including the recent devastating wildfires in California. However, the volume of information drones can collect quickly has resulted in a pressing need for rapid data processing and visualization. This lecture will walk through the use of drone imagery following three major wildfires (Tubbs, Carr, and Camp fires) in California and review opportunities and challenges for the geospatial data in future disasters in the state.
