From Computer Chips to Catalysts: Precise Materials Synthesis for Sustainable Energy Applications
To discuss strategies for controlling interfaces and thin films in sustainable energy devices. She will describe the use of atomic layer deposition, a technique borrowed from the semiconductor industry, for fabrication of both solar cells and catalysts. She will present work on perovskite photovoltaics, in which nanometer-thin interfacial layers improve solar cell efficiency and stability, and on heterogeneous syngas conversion catalysts, for which atomically-precise addition of promoters allows for the tuning of activity and selectivity.
