San Francisco Rocks: The Great Quake Earth Day Edition

Fault

Celebrate Earth Day and commemorate the Great Quake, all in one afternoon!

On April 18, 1906, the San Andreas shook our city down. The quake was a disaster socially, but from a science perspective, it was a magical moment. Join this special tour and find out what geologists learned from the '06 quake that gave birth to the science of seismology.

We'll also explore the unique qualities that shape San Francisco's distinctive terrain, while munching through edible seismic activities and getting up close and personal with the local geology. We'll visit stellar rock formations that draw geologists from around the world, and you'll gain a new appreciation for the city's legendary landscape.
