Join Exploratorium scientist Ron Hipschman for colorful explorations of the physical world.

Is growth always good? The biggest threat to our existence on planet Earth isn’t asteroids it’s us. Why can’t our population continue to grow? Learn about the exponential function and the conclusions we can draw from it.

Since joining the Exploratorium in 1971, Ron Hipschman has worked as an exhibit developer, author, teacher, and webcast host. He currently works on the Exploratorium’s Environmental Initiative, implementing and maintaining a collection of environmental monitoring sensors and developing visualizations for the Fisher Bay Observatory Gallery’s super-resolution media wall. In addition to Full-Spectrum Science, Ron hosts the monthly After Dark series Everything Matters: Tales from the Periodic Table.  Learn more about the seriesat the website


Drink Lab: Rapid Infusion @ 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 p.m.

How do you get botanical flavors to stay in your solvents? What’s a good ratio of liquid to solid ingredients? Learn about the effects of pressure on the infusion process, and see what else your cream whipper can do.

Tonight’s cocktail, a customized Manhattan with freshly infused bitters, will be available for $13.

The Exploratorium’s Drink Lab explores the science and technology behind unique cocktail recipes, offering both live demonstrations and custom libations for purchase. Drink Lab is presented by SeaGlass General Manager Clay Reynolds and Zeke Kossover, a teacher in the Exploratorium Teacher Institute.
