Fire, Flowers, Forage & People in Shaping of the Modini Mayacamas

Learn about fire in the geologic past; plant adaptations to fire, smoke and ash; use of fire as a tool employed by Native cultures in the management of useful plants and habitats, the effects of historic over-grazing on fuel structure and fire recovery; historic fires in the area; intentional burning in the mid-1900’s; and the future of fire - and ACR’s Fire Forward - as we learn to live in and with flammable landscapes of Sonoma County. Join ACR Education Specialist Dave Self as we look for evidence of fire and it’s effects on the landscape.
