COVID-19 and the media: the role of journalism in a global pandemic - Livestream

Berkeley Global presents this discussion with two global thought-leaders in Public Health and Journalism. It will explore the challenges reporters and researchers face in providing accurate information about a new virus and a pandemic of historic proportions. This look behind-the-scenes will focus on the collaborative efforts of scientists and journalists in support of policy makers and the public in navigating the crisis. The aim of the conversation will be to challenge current understandings of the pandemic, provide criteria to use when choosing sources of information, and explore possible scenarios of an eventual return to normalcy.

After welcoming comments from Diana Wu, Dean of UC Berkeley Extension, our moderator, Dr. Frederick Wehrle, Assistant Dean for Academic Design and Innovation, will be speaking with John Swartzberg, Clinical Professor Emeritus of Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology at the Berkeley School of Public Health, and Edward Wasserman, Dean of the Berkeley Graduate School Of Journalism.
