Butterfly & Bird Festival
Join in the learning and fun at the 13th Annual Butterfly and Bird Festival at Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont. This special event presented by the East Bay Regional Park District is dedicated to increasing the numbers and species of butterflies and birds in our Bay Area landscapes.
Tour the nectar garden, and learn how to create a wildlife-friendly habitat in your own backyard. There will be presentations on composting, bees and pollination, Bay Area birds, and monarch butterflies. Local photographers will offer slideshows of their best bird and butterfly pictures. While you're here, stock up on milkweed and nectar plants for sale from local nurseries, to start or supplement your own garden.
Kids will enjoy viewing butterflies close-up, making crafts, face-painting, and meeting animals from Hayward's Sulphur Creek Nature Center. Musician Betsy Stern will perform whimsical and entertaining songs about animals and nature. Hot dogs will be available for sale.
The event is free to the public, but the usual $5 parking fee will be charged. Call or visit website for more information.
