It's been said that big data is new oil, tofu etc. In this talk, we'll interact over pint(s) to understand how big data in healthcare can be utilized to investigate the effectiveness of treatments in Type-2 Diabetes. We'll discuss the oppurtunities, challenges and limitations of big observational data analytics in healthcare.

Message in a bottle - What we can learn about the brain’s health by studying extracellular vesicles in the blood.

Cells communicate with each other in many different ways, one of them involves extracellular vesicles, a sort of message in a bottle that can travel through your body.

This talk will discuss how these tiny messenger-vesicles can encapsulate different types of messages, their potential use as biomarkers of disease, particularly neurodegenerative diseases and the challenges and opportunities in the diagnostic field.
