An Accidental Conservationist: One Chef's Story

From student, to master, to activist, Rick Moonen is a celebrated seafood chef and an early champion of sustainable fishing practices. After graduating top in his class at the Culinary Institute of America, Chef Rick Moonen began his career on the competitive culinary stage of New York. Success there brought him to Las Vegas and ultimately to the nation on television's Top Chef Masters. It was this path and his love of seafood that also brought him to a perspective on the changes in our ocean that only a chef can provide. Come meet Rick and hear his story about a passion for food that led him to his true life's work - advocating for the health of our ocean and the future of food on our planet. He believes that we can all contribute to a future of "Fish Without a Doubt" (his book co-authored by Roy Finamore) from how to shop, clean, and cook seafood. Rick Moonen is the Chef/Owner of RM Seafood and Rx Boiler Room in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is America's leading chef-activist and has over 30 years' experience cooking state of the art sustainable seafood. Personable and slightly irreverent, Rick encourages everyone to think about how to help save the planet one delicious dish at a time.
