BAY AREA SCIENCE FESTIVAL - Explorer Days - Tour SFPUC's New Sustainable Headquarters

 

A wonderful opportunity to tour one of the greenest buildings in the country, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC)'s headquarters on 525 Golden Gate Ave. Attendees will have a chance to learn about the green building features such as, consumption of 32% less energy, 50% less carbon footprint and 60% less water than similarly sized buildings (one of the first buildings in the nation with onsite treatment of gray and black water), an onsite "Living Machine" that reclaims and treats all of the building's wastewater, unique seismic safety features. In addition, attendees will be able to witness how the building integrates a digital arts wall and a Rain Portal art installation to a working environment.

Restrictions/Requirements:

  • Tour guests are requested to arrive 15 minutes prior to tour start time. Please enter via the 525 Golden Gate Avenue entrance (at the corner of Polk Street) and check in at the security desk.
  • All guests 18 years-old and above are requested to bring a valid government issued photo ID. Children and youth under 18 years of age are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.
  • No pets allowed. Guide and Service dogs only.
  • No food or beverages allowed beyond lobby area.

Please note that if you arrive late and your scheduled tour group has left the main floor, you will not be able to join that tour and will need to reschedule.

Registration for this tour will open on October 12th. Limited to 20 attendees. Tour guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult/guardian
