How healthy is the CA Coast? Recent findings of a bold new approach

Join Conservation International scientists Dr. Greg Stone and Dr. Steve Katona who will talk about a bold new approach to measuring the health of California's ocean and coastal resources.
In June, Scientists from National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) at UC Santa Barbara and Conservation International published the findings of the Ocean Health Index for the West Coast. This unique tool assesses ocean conditions in terms of how well the coastal waters deliver a range of benefits to California citizens both now and in the future – from fisheries and tourism to biodiversity and clean waters.
The findings address 5 regions on the west coast: Southern, Central, and Northern California, Oregon State and Washington State. With challenges like ocean acidification, marine pollution and climate change, the Ocean Health Index can show what we're doing right – and how we can do better.
