BASF - Genetics and Human Identity

DNA_methylation

The science of genetics has developed rapidly over the last century, bringing with it a number of astounding new technologies. These biological technologies can improve human health, provide energy, and protect our environment. However, every new technology also poses significant social, legal, and ethical questions - sometimes even causing new forms of inequality or discrimination. How does science change how we view ourselves? And how has genetics changed the way that we have interacted with each other in the past? Join this panel hosted by the Center for Science, Technology, Medicine and Society at the University of California, Berkeley to meet scholars and practitioners working on and thinking about these issues.
