Mezcal Nightlife

Cactis

This week, learn about the rich history and flavorful future of mezcal at NightLife's spirit-focused celebration of Cinco de Mayo, co-presented by the MEX I AM festival showcasing the best of Mexico.

Sip your way through a selection of mezcal-inspired cocktails at bars around the museum and catch mezcal mixology demos from local hotspots La Urbana, Bartlett Hall, Lolo, and more, presented by Mezcalistas. Kick off the evening with Consul General of Mexico in San Francisco Dr. Andrés Roemer, followed by talks on the history of mezcal-from learning about sustainable production with Wahaka Mezcal to tracing its current popularity boom with Max Garrone of Mezcalistas.

At the Project Lab, Academy scientists Drs. Lauren Esposito and Jack Dumbacher will explain the special relationship between yucca and agave plants and their pollinators, exploring how bats and moths play an important role in keeping mezcal and tequila flowing. Get refreshed while tasting samples of Hard Frescos and make it easy to get home safely with the ride-sharing pros at Lyft.
