Hard Earth Talk: The Dance of Decarbonization

The Stanford campus has become a key test bed for one of the world’s most vexing energy challenges: How to manipulate people’s demand for electricity so it rises when the sun is shining and the wind is blowing and falls when they’re not. A global race is on to maximize the use of renewable electricity, but that would require changing the times when people use energy to comply with nature’s whims. This talk will explain how Stanford is shaping up as a living laboratory not just for how to produce cleaner energy but also for how to use it.
