Trucks and Buses: The Next Frontier for Electric Vehicles

Widespread adoption of electric vehicles is needed to reduce air pollution and avoid the most severe consequences of climate change. As electric cars have become increasingly available, trucks and buses represent the next frontier for electrification. Heavy-duty vehicles comprise a small fraction of vehicles on the road but disproportionately contribute to air pollution and global warming emissions. I will discuss the state of technology for heavy-duty electric vehicles and the policy landscape for increasing their deployment in California.
