Explorer Day at the Estuary & Ocean Science Center in Tiburon - CANCELED

Go behind the scenes at the only academic marine laboratory on San Francisco Bay, San Francisco State University’s Estuary & Ocean Science Center, located on the Tiburon peninsula in Marin County. Meet our scientists and take a deeper dive into the environmental research they are doing in San Francisco Bay and on the California Coast. Suit up like a scientist in a lab coat and safety glasses to enter lab rooms to learn how kelp can help other organisms survive the changing chemistry in the bay and ocean, how to identify tiny crustacean copepods under a microscope, how scientists monitor the water in our estuary, and more. Visitors will be led by graduate student researchers on tours of the lab in small groups, and participate in hands-on demonstrations and activities. Event is for ages 10 years and up.
