Birds and Energy: Avian lessons on how to live (energetically) on Earth - Livestream

Martin Ogle

Birds are some of the most remarkable creatures on Earth - boasting the highest body temperatures, extraordinary adaptations, and awe-inspiring migrations. But they also have a lot to teach us about energy. From how they conserve it to how human energy systems impact their survival, the connection between birds and energy is profound - and urgent.

Join naturalist and energy educator Martin Ogle for an engaging program that explores the fascinating relationship between avian life and energy. Discover how the National Audubon Society addresses climate change and energy issues, learn about innovative efforts to protect birds from the impacts of energy infrastructure, and explore surprising ways bird physiology has inspired energy-efficient building design.

Martin will also share his insights from developing the Energeriumat Potomac Overlook Regional Park Nature Center - a unique facility that viewed energy through the lens of the natural world and vice-versa!). Throughout the session, he will inspire us to deepen our understanding of energy as a key step in conserving birds - and the ecosystems we all depend on.
