Birding New Zealand and Australia's Subantarctic

John Tsortos

?Join John as he shares photos and videos from an expedition cruise to the subantarctic islands of New Zealand and Australia as a True Young Explorer with Heritage Expeditions. These regions are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites and are home to the highest diversity of breeding penguin and albatross species in the world (many of which are endemic breeders), along with dozens of other nesting seabirds, endemic plants and landbirds, massive pinnipeds, and unique cetaceans. His talk will also touch on the human history of these islands and conservation success stories. John is a seabird photographer whose work has been featured in The Sanderling. He also volunteers as a pelagic birding guide for Alvaro’s Adventures and Monterey Seabirds and serves as a Seawatch docent and relief counter with Monterey Audubon.
