Energy Security, Strategic Partnerships & Our Future

In an age of all-in energy portfolios, increasing fossil fuel production and use in the U.S., and an energy transition happening internationally, energy security has a significant role in global geopolitics and security. Within this context, this presentation will explore the intersection of energy security, sustainability, and resilience, with a focus on their relevance to national security. It will address these issues through the lens of the growing impacts of global environmental change on human systems, natural ecosystems, economies, and infrastructure. The speaker will highlight how recent litigation and legal opinions are likely to shape energy policies and environmental strategies in the future.
The role of strategic partnerships in navigating these challenges will be presented, with a particular focus on the Education Partnership between the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability and the Naval Postgraduate School. This collaboration aims to advance research in energy security, ocean sciences and resilience. The presentation will also showcase the joint Security Fellows program, highlighting the role of education in fostering long-term sustainability and security.
