Seaside Heermann's Gull Colony Update

Did you know Seaside is home to the only nesting colony of Heermann's Gulls outside of Baja California? With approximately 1% of their population nesting on rooftops in downtown Seaside, you can imagine the challenges they face, as well as the struggles we have keeping them protected.

This year, Monterey Audubon Society launched an official monitoring and outreach program designed to engage locals in our conservation efforts. Join us Tuesday to learn more about their natural history from Amanda, creating and managing an outreach program from Deb, things we learned with interns monitoring the colony weekly from Shannon and Amanda, and what our plans are for the future from Shannon.
