National Science Teachers Conference

Join KQED Education at NSTA's National Conference on Science Education at Moscone Center March 10-13. The event offers science educators the best opportunity for professional development in 2011. For K-16 science educators and administrators, including every science discipline, attendees will access unmatched resources for development of content knowledge, techniques and strategies for the classroom, and hands-on, practical workshops that tackle a wide range of science topics. Thousands of science teachers will share ideas, experiences, and challenges.

Among the many presentations and workshops offered (see below), KQED Education will be joined by other public media stations at the PBS booth in the exhibit hall (booth #401). Public television stations are steeped in STEM! Visit with folks from QUEST, Teachers' Domain, Dinosaur Train and SciGirls. See how public television supports STEM education through amazing and FREE classroom-ready resources. Enter our daily drawing for NOVA and other DVDs! KQED Education will also be holding the following workshops during the conference:
- Clue into Climate: Thursday, March 10 from 8am-9am
- Bring the Ocean into Your Classroom with Digital Media: Thursday, March 10 from 3:30pm-4:30pm
- How Media Literacy Influences Socio-scientific Issues: Friday, March 11 from 11am-12pm
- Teaching the Essentials Principles of Climate Literacy in Middle and High School: Saturday, March 12 from 9:30am-10:30am

Here are some additional highlights you can expect to see this year:
- Featured Presentation: Ira Flatow, President and Executive Producer, NPR's Science Friday
- Featured Presentation: Dr. Art's Planet Earth Show. Art Sussman, Sr Project Director, WestEd
- Exhibit Hall: test and try the most cutting edge products from companies across the nation. Bring an extra tote for giveaways.
- Field trips (ticketed) for in the field discovery. USS Pampanito, Lawrence Hall of Science, the Match Science Nucleus, Wes Gordon Fossil Hall, the Tech Museum, RAFT, and more.
