Parks and NightLife

Award-winning nature photographer and author Ian Shive presents an evening of photography and short films exploring America's greatest heritage, The National Parks, as well as some of the world's wildest places, from the slopes of the highest peaks of North America to the most pristine underwater ecosystems of Micronesia's "Coral Triangle."
Take a tour behind the photographs of Shive's newly expanded book, The National Parks: An American Landscape, and explore the role of landscape photography in storytelling: how a single photo can reveal a place through composition, layers, color and light and how all of these elements not only tell a story but also capture the raw emotion of nature. This presentation will also premiere a new short web film, America's Galapagos: The Channel Islands, which details the astonishing wildlife, beauty and unique ecosystem that rivals the biodiversity of the Ecuador's Galapagos Islands but are right here in the backyard of every Californian.
This presentation may be limited by capacity, show-passes will be available on the night of the event on a first-come, first served basis.
