Oakland/East Bay Math Circle

BASF Logo

The Oakland/East Bay Math Circle offers middle and high school students and teachers in the Oakland and East Bay area the opportunity to learn advanced mathematics in a free, after-school enrichment program. This is an extraordinary activity for students who enjoy mathematics and want to learn more.

Math circles originated in Eastern Europe. They are similar to school math clubs, but the activities are different because Math Circles are usually led by professional mathematicians (university professors or graduate students). The atmosphere of a math circle is informal, intensive, and fun with students working together and individually.

OEB Math Circle will meet in the Mathematics building at Laney College in rooms A-266 and A-273 for students, A-239 for teachers. Snacks will be served in the rooms starting at 4:15PM. A-273 will serve as the "headquarters" room; go there if you have any questions
