Spice Up Your Star Parties

Many of us, following in the tradition of "Sidewalk Astronomers", are active giving public star parties as part of the public outreach intent for our club.
Lynn Anderson regularly promotes engagement with our local schools to provide star parties for their students and their families. These are our future scientists and good citizens, and we have a great opportunity during these events to inspire folks to look up into the sky and be aware of the universe around them. Hopefully this will encourage people to have a broader vision for their place in the grand scheme of things, hopefully preserve dark skies, and bring awareness to the local public for SCAS and the RFO.
Many times I'm sure we've been asked to show students objects from their "bucket list" of different types of objects, sometimes as assignments from some of their more engaged science minded teachers.
Ever been stumped by these questions? Come to our next SCAS meeting and listen to what our guest speaker has for ideas on how to organize and direct our search for worthwhile targets for our scopes. Come meet Norm Sperling, if you haven't met him before!
