End of Daze: Does Hollywood Get Doomsday Right?
We have been warned that the year 2012 "has Earth's name on it." Well, if doomsday is coming this year, it had better hurry!
On December 1st, with just one month to meet the legendary "End of Days" in 2012, Wonderfest presents "End of Daze: Does Hollywood Get Doomsday Right?" a critical look at how civilization might REALLY end if Earth collides with a big enough hunk of interplanetary rock.
Our speaker, planetary scientist Chris McKay, is as funny as he is insightful.* And the movie, "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" (100 minutes), is a fascinatingly unconventional romantic comedy starring Steve Carell and Kiera Knightley.
Drinks, treats, and free popcorn will abound at this fundraiser for Wonderfest and for Variety Children's Charity of Northern California. Only 49 seats are available in the posh downtown-SF Variety Preview Theater, so secure your tickets now.

Please do come to the Bay Area's "social/science" event of the year. You couldn't meet doomsday with a better speaker or a nicer bunch of people. It'll be a BLAST!

* Dr. McKay will explain how a meteorite impact in the Yucatan killed ALL the dinosaurs on Earth -- even those on the other side of the globe. [Hint: Most of Earth's above-ground critters were dead within an hour!]
