Vitamin D: Its role in risk reduction for autism and breast cancer
John J. Cannell, MD, Director of Vitamin D Council, will present a talk on the evidence that vitamin D reduces the risk of autism and may be useful in treating the symptoms.
Cedric F. Garland, Dr. Public Health, UC San Diego, will present the evidence that solar ultraviolet-B (UVB) irradiance and vitamin D reduce the risk of breast cancer.
Both Dr. Cannell and Dr. Garland are pioneers in researching the health benefits of vitamin D. Dr. Cannell has also written on the role of UVB and vitamin D in reducing risk of influenza and increasing physical performanc. Dr. Garland has done research on how UVB and vitamin D reduce the risk of many types of cancer as well as type 1 diabetes mellitus. This is a rare opportunity to meet two of the world's leading vitamin D researchers.
