Rock the Rancho Hike

Geology has always been a big topic of conversation on the Coastside! Everybody knows about Devil's Slide erosion, but what do you know about the massive geologic feature above Devil's Slide: Montara Mountain? Come learn what this mountain has in common with faraway locations like the Farallon Islands and the Point Reyes Light House!

Join geology professor Dr. Katryn Wiese on a steep hike up Montara Mountain through McNee Ranch State Park and onto Rancho Corral de Tierra to experience the rocks for yourself.

Meet at Gray Whale Cove State Beach Parking Lot at 10 am for this two- to three-hour hike.

Wear close-toed shoes and bring water and a snack for this steep hike.

Limited to 25 participants.

RSVP is required; please call (415) 265-1540 or e-mail susie_bennett@nps.gov.
