Serious Mental Illness: How Can We Promote Public Health and Public Safety

This forum will be a dialogue concerning what the health care system and what the general public can do to promote the well-being of families who are facing mental illness.  It will also address how society should respond to the very small proportion of individuals with mental illness who commit acts of extreme violence, such as the Newtown Massacre.  Finally, it will explore why so many mentally ill people are incarcerated, what happens to them behind bars and how we can deal with them in more humane ways.
