Consumer and mobile displays - technology & trends
Touch screens encompass a wide variety of technologies and sensor structures. The touch industry is evolving rapidly, driven by competition to reduce materials usage, size, and cost while improving performance. Smartphones and tablet PCs have been the dominant applications, and while there has been much activity around touch in traditional notebook PCs, adoption has been limited. Industry players are developing new sensor structures and materials, particularly transparent conductors; meanwhile, developments in voice and gesture recognition are also resulting in new forms of user interfaces. This presentation will provide a survey of the touch industry and outlook of the market.
