Featuring Marine Mammal Expert Burney Le Boeuf, Ph.D.

Please join us for the Elephant Seal Soirée! Elephant seals are the biggest and gnarliest of the seals and sea lions that live in our region. Elephant seal expert Burney Le Boeuf, Ph.D., a renowned behavioral ecologist who has studied and published extensively on marine mammals for decades, will speak. He has contributed greatly to our knowledge of their diving, foraging, and migratory behavior, and their related physiological mechanisms and adaptations. He has studied their social behavior and the strategies of each sex for maximizing their reproductive success, and examines interactions between elephant seals and wildlife viewers!
