An Evening With Elephants: A Film Screening Fundraiser for Wild Asian Elephants
Join us in spending an evening discovering the world of the shy and secretive Asian elephant as we present BBC Natural World's "Sri Lanka: Elephant Island".
The movie features Martyn Colbeck (film maker who shot scenes in "BBC Planet Earth" and the "Echo" series on the Amboseli elephants), and Dr. Shermin de Silva (director of the Uda Walawe Elephant Research Project in Sri Lanka). It will be followed by a short lecture by Dr. de Silva herself about the elephants she studies, the conservation issues facing Asian elephants, and how you can help.
This fundraising event will benefit research and conservation efforts on behalf of wild Asian elephants and their habitats. The entire amount of your ticket will go to Trunks & Leaves Inc.* (http://trunksnleaves.org) and will be spent on science and education activities centered on this enigmatic species.
Film Screening: 6:00pm-7:00pm
Slideshow and lecture: 7:15pm-7:45pm
