Seals and Slippers: Sleep under the stars at The Marine Mammal Center

Last fall we piloted our first ever sleepover at The Marine Mammal Center. Five lucky families camped out under the stars accompanied by the sounds of barking sea lions. Parents and children took part in a variety of educational programs including fish dissections in the Necropsy Lab, they watched a movie in the classroom, and enjoyed a healthy dinner in our Commons. They even got to help out Friday Night Crew with fish sorting and had the chance to observe the 8:00pm feeding!

The following morning, after a hearty breakfast, the group went for a hike down to Rodeo Lagoon (spotted some local wildlife including the resident river otter family), then spent some time at Rodeo Beach. It was a truly unique and memorable adventure for all of the families involved!

All in all everyone had tremendous fun so we are rolling out sleepover events throughout the year!
