The Future of Automobiles and Our Personal Mobility: Automated, Electric, Connected, Shared -- and What Else?
While the automobile has been around for well over 100 years, it seems to be undergoing dramatic change at the moment. The powertrain is becoming more and more electrified, driving tasks are becoming more and more automated, the vehicle itself is becoming more and more connected to other vehicles and common infrastructures -- and at the same time, carsharing programs are being promoted as a new form of mobility. In his talk, Dr. Beiker will visit each of these topics and highlight synergies and interdependencies between them. He will also discuss which innovations are on the horizon and which developments might take longer than expected. Dr. Beiker will also highlight why it is important to not just talk about the automobile as such, but also about mobility in broader terms to fully understand what drives consumers in their vehicle choice and travel behavior.
