explOratorium exhibit investigation with Paul Doherty
Join us as we explore an exhibit with Exploratorium senior scientist, Dr. Paul Doherty. Paul has been the long-time teacher of countless Exploratorium staff about the science behind the exhibits. We thought it would be great to invite you to join us to participate in our learning process. During each session, we make observations and ask questions about 1 exhibit, and Paul expertly guides our investigations toward a deeper understanding of the science concepts, the history of science, and the practices of science learning.
Paul is a physicist, teacher, author, and rock climber with a Ph.D. in solid-state physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1974). As a tenured professor at Oakland University, he taught a wide range of science courses, including physics, astronomy, geology, electronics, computer programming, and meteorology. In 1986, he came to the Exploratorium Teacher Institute and began exhibit-based explorations in science. Paul has written over two dozen articles for Exploring magazine, and has co-authored the Exploratorium Science Snackbook, the Klutz Book of Magnetic Magic, and the book, Traces of Time: The Beauty of Change in Nature.
Paul Doherty will also be speaking at SkeptiCal 2014
