Total Lunar Eclipse Viewing Events
In addition to the two other locations listed, here are some gatherings for watching the lunar eclipse:
- Hough Park, San Jose (SJ Astronomical Assoc)
- Park Chalet Gardens near Ocean Beach, San Francisco (SF Amateur Astronomers)
- Foothill College Observatory, Los Altos Hills
- Robert Gerguson Observatory, 2605 Adobe Canyon Rd., Kenwood (Sonoma County Astronomical Society)
But you don't need a telescope to see the eclipse. Anywhere with a clear sky and a view of the moon will work. Binoculars will help. The eclipse starts at 10:58, with totality running from 12:07 AM to 1:25 AM Tuesday morning. The moon will leave the earth's shadow at 2:33 AM.
