'Mapping the Heavens' California Map Society
The California Map Society will be holding its annual Northern California Conference at NASA Ames Research Center on May 10, 2014. The theme for this all-day meeting will be "Mapping the Heavens," and speakers will be experts from the society membership and scientists from NASA Ames. Topics will include the conceptualization and mapping of the solar system and its planets from antiquity up to modern day imaging taken from space probes; terrestrial and celestial globes throughout history; and the detection and mapping of exoplanets in distant star systems. There also will be a student presentation of a World War I trench map, informal discussions by CMS members of their favorite maps, and time to visit the NASA Ames Visitor Center with its museum and gift shop.
A continental breakfast, box lunch, and coffee break goodies will be included in the registration fee of $40 ($20 for students). Please indicate your lunch selection above.
