What Happens When Design and Tech Innovators Team Up?
![]()
PARC and design and innovation consultancy Smart Design's IxD Lab have developed a design vision for a wearable medical patch that illustrates how PARC's printed electronics technologies could change product design and development. Together we explored a variety of applications of printed electronics across a number of industries (transportation, wearables, structural monitoring, and more) where this type of technology could make an impact. Ultimately, we settled on health and wellness for this project as a way to best illustrate the human/personalized interaction (and impact) between printed technology and the individual. Our collaborative vision has been realized through a series of renderings and high-level concepts for a wearable medical patch – which would be easy–to–wear, low cost, and possibly disposable – and is an example of what is possible when thinking about implementing printed electronics.
Join us at PARC Forum with experts from both PARC and Smart Design for an in-depth discussion on how a commercial innovation center and a global design lab can ideate in order to take a disruptive technology to market.
