Sierra Club Green Friday: Climate Risk, Sustainability, and Global Policy Dialog
Average temperatures in the Earth's atmosphere have begun an upward trend that is largely irreversible over the next century. Whether these trends lead to moderate or extreme climate change will depend on policy. In this talk, learn about the risks we face around the world, as well as the state of policy dialog on how to
mitigate climate change and its associated impacts.
Speaker: David Roland-Holst is Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics, who is a leading authority on economic, energy, and climate policy modeling. Most recently, his research has been central to California's groundbreaking Global Warming Solutions Act. He has held academic posts in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has conducted research in more than 40 countries, working with institutions such as the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, and several United Nations agencies, as well as governments in Asia, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and United States.
The May Green Friday meeting will be a rescheduling of the February 14 speaker, David Roland-Holst (http://are.berkeley.edu/~dwrh/) speaking on Climate change policy. He was not able to make that meeting because of a serious auto accident.
