'50 Plants that Changed the World'

Starting his brief U.S tour in Berkeley, U.K author Bill Laws will be addressing some curious plant questions brought up in his book "Fifty Plants that Changed the Course of History" at the Bone Room on June 19. Bill will share his thoughts on how dyeing plants contributed to the First World War, what went wrong with the opium poppy, and why the potato fired up the Irish troubles.
"If all plant life died today, we'd have no tomorrow," says Bill. "It was after plants evolved the process of photosynthesis, that terrestrial life could evolve. Basically life on Planet Earth was only made possible by the life cycle of plants."
