A Tribute to the Moon and other Heavenly Bodies
If you're in the mood for something really different, then step into the 'MetaQuizzical Cafe'. Dedicated to the advancement of "extra sensory curiosity, Jim and Kathy Ocean serve up a unique blend of "thought rock" for those who hunger for fresh & sassy lyrical commentary that sticks to the ribs and feeds the spirit.
The debut of the MetaQuizzical Cafe at Lydia's Sunflower Center is a full moon celebration featuring familiar celestial songs as well as a few of the Oceans' original "space rock" tunes.
Several special guests will be tossed into the musical mix as Dr. Steve Howell, Kepler Project Scientist and Blues harp player sits in on the song "Super Earth" and answers questions about Kepler's search for habitable planets.
Santa Rosa Junior College Planetarium director Ed Megill will be on hand to tell tales of "Super Moons" and other lunar factoids and will also conduct a full moon viewing following the show.
Plus Petaluma officials are slated to honor the Kepler mission by proclaiming July 12, 2014 as "Kepler Project Day" in the City of Petaluma and awarding a plaque to the Kepler mission scientists in the audience.
Respected Sonoma County guitarist, Jake Richmond, will sit in with the Ocean's--and other surprises await.
Sometimes funny, sometimes serious, expect a stimulating folk-rocking romp through science, politics and the ins and outs of being human.
"When the music starts to play, better watch the worm holes on the way. You're sitting in the MetaQuizzical Cafe."
