Saving the Mary Rose

Dr. Ritimukta Sarangi, of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, will give a talk on "Saving the Mary Rose." The Mary Rose was an English warship built between 1510 and 1511 and was a favorite of King Henry VIII. After a long and successful career, she sank during an engagement with the French fleet in 1545. Her rediscovery in 1971 and raising in 1982 were seminal events in the history of nautical archaeology. Dr. Sarangi will be discussing efforts to use the latest in Silicon Valley technology to preserve this remarkable artifact.
