How are we doing? The National Parks and Fire Management - CANCELLED

Come join us for a stirring panel discussion around fire in National Parks with experts in the field. The panelists will discuss both the history of fire management in parks like Yosemite, but also the strategies and complications with managing fires today, such as allowing lightning fires to burn in the wilderness and igniting prescribed fires in Yosemite Valley. There will be a focus on both Yosemite National Park as a case study but also National Park Service efforts in the United States.

Panel:

Jan W. van Wagtendonk, PhD, Research Forester Emeritus for Yosemite National Park

Tom Nichols, Retired as Chief of Fire and Aviation Management for the NPS, and was previously the Fire Management Officer for Yosemite

Kelly Martin, Yosemite National Park Chief of Fire and Aviation Management

Scott Stephens, Professor of Fire Science, ESPM Department at UC Berkeley
