Elemental NightLife
This week, NightLife partners with California College of the Arts for a night that explores the elements of creativity-from things you can see and touch to concepts only imagined.
Through a head-turning array of interactive displays and installations, learn what it would feel like to use various types of animal teeth and how animals of different sizes-from elephants to bats-use evolved hearing to outrun or track down prey, use 3D "elemental" models to form your own atoms and molecules, and try to trace your neighbor's shadow (it's more complex than you'd think).
Plus, watch as CCA's Maker Club wood carves unique skeletal structures.
In the planetarium, catch a special Earth Update with Academy research associate and marine scientist Dr. Steve Palumbi.
Step right up to the Academy's Project Lab to see scientists at work and marvel at our rarely seen and oh-so-breathtaking gem and mineral collection with geologist Jean DeMouthe-gold, jade, and onyx-oh my!
