What's New in Mobile: From Gamer-Focused NVIDIA SHIELD Products to Google Tango Giving Mobile Devices a Human-Scale Understanding of Space and Motion
As mobile markets grow & mature, it becomes practical to target specific segments with differentiated solutions. Two examples of this are the NVIDIA gamer-focused Shield Android products, and the developer-focused Google Project Tango. Both highlight important emerging technologies for imaging and gaming.
The NVIDIA SHIELD products are built for gamers, and illustrate how gaming is driving ever increasing graphic and compute power that can also be used for applications such as computational photography.
Project Tango is a focused effort to build upon research from the last decade of work in computer vision and robotics and concentrate that technology into a mobile device. It uses computer vision and advanced sensor fusion to estimate position and orientation of the device in the real-time, while simultaneously generating a 3D map of the environment. In this talk, we will describe some of the overall market trends that are behind these devices, the technologies that they are bringing forward, the applications that those enable, and the implications for future products.
NVIDIA SHIELD and Google Tango demos will be shown.
