Linking experiments and models to advance prediction of dynamic forest responses to climate change

Lara Kueppers is a Research Scientist in the Carbon & Climate Sciences Program at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Her research expertise is in the areas of climate-ecosystem feedbacks, ecological impacts of climate change, land-cover/ land-use change, regional climate modeling, model-experiment integration, and species effects on ecosystem function. Dr. Kueppers uses field observations and experiments, as well as coupled climate-land surface models, and has been funded by DOE, USDA, and the California Energy Commission. She is particularly interested in the climate impacts of dynamic natural vegetation and land management, and in the key climate drivers of vegetation change. She directs the Alpine Treeline Warming Experiment through her appointment as Assistant Research Scientist at University of California, Merced.
