ASSESSING GROUND SHAKING IN THE 2014 SOUTH NAPA EARTHQUAKE

The August 24, 2014, M6.0 South Napa earthquake was the largest earthquake in the San Francisco Bay Area since the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Dr. Aagaard will use the South Napa earthquake to illustrate how , U.S. Geological Survey uses a variety of tools to (1) rapidly assess ground-shaking during an earthquake and forecast its impact, and (2) analyze the ground shaking to improve seismic hazard models used in building codes.
