David Brower Center - Green Building Tour

The David Brower Center is one of the Bay Area's most advanced green buildings and an inspiring home for environmental and social action, housing like-minded organizations. The building combines offices, the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Theater, the Hazel Wolf Gallery, meeting space, and a restaurant under one roof. It is named to honor David Brower, a Berkeley native who many consider the father of the modern environmental movement.
Utilizing the latest in energy-saving technologies and recycled building materials, the Center makes as light a footprint on the Earth as possible, taking into account the true life-cycle cost of building construction, operation, and maintenance. It was one of the first buildings in the Bay Area to receive a green building rating of LEED Platinum, the highest designation available from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Green Building Tour will give you a look into energy-saving and innovative technologies, including the collection and reuse of rainwater for irrigation and toilet flushing, the extensive use of recycled building materials, and the use of vertical post-tensioned structures to minimize potential damage due to earthquakes.
Please note that the tour will start and end on time. You may also want to allow yourself time before or after the tour to see the Hazel Wolf Gallery.
