Dr. Geoff Marcy public talk: Part of the Meteoritical Society convention at UC Berkeley

Dr. Marcy will discuss the discovery and nature of planets 1 to 4 times Earth's size, their habitability, and the new search for intelligent life in the universe, especially after the announcement of the $100 million donation by billionaire Yuri Milner.   The talk is free and open to the public and is the Barringer Invitational Lecture.

Dr. Marcy is Professor of Astronomy and Alberts Chair in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence at Berkeley.  He is a pioneer in the discovery and characterization of planets orbiting other stars and has recently carried out searches for extra-terrestrial civilizations using infra-red radiation.
